The Ford Escape is up to the task at hand, whether it's towing a trailer up to 3,500-lbs.,3 accommodating five passengers and their cargo, or moving along confidently on rainy or snow-slick roads. Escape offers great versatility, with rear seats that fold easily when the need for cargo space takes priority. Greater assurance on the road, too, with Torque Vectoring Control, available Intelligent 4WD System, and available Trailer Sway Control.Intelligent 4WD System
Whether you're driving on a rainy or snow-covered road, the available Intelligent 4WD System continuously monitors traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds. It can transfer torque from front wheels to rear wheels as needed to ensure a precise blend of handling and traction at all times.
3,500-lb. Towing Capacity
Ford Escape with available 2.0L EcoBoost® power and Class II Tow Package can tow up to 3,500 lbs. Trailer sway control technology is included in the package. When trailer sway is detected, the system automatically takes measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to help keep both the vehicle and the trailer under control.39Electric Parking Brake
The new electric parking brake uses a motor at each rear caliper in place of a mechanically operated cable. It provides fingertip convenience at the touch of a switch (instead of having to pull and release a heavier lever) and frees up valuable space for storage.
How it works: (1) To set the parking brake, depress the brake pedal and pull up the switch located to the left of the gear shifter. (2) To release, hold the brake pedal, turn the ignition on, and pull the switch down. (3) To release on the go, close the door, buckle in, turn on the ignition and shift into gear; hit the accelerator pedal and the parking brake automatically releases.Cargo Capacity
The Escape can seat up to five. And its versatility lets you convert rear seat room to extra space - up to a maximum 68 cu. ft. - when transporting cargo takes priority.
Fold both rear seat backs for a flat load surface and 68 cu. ft. of total cargo space. Or fold down either of the 60/40 split rear seat backs for more cargo space and still carry one or two rear passengers. If you're carrying items such as luggage, leave both seat backs up and you have 34 cu. ft. of cargo space. On Escape models with 17-inch wheels, the load floor is adjustable: (1) high position for a flat load floor and easy loading with the seats folded; (2) low position for additional cargo room.
Roof Rack Side Rails
Black roof rack side rails are included in the SE Technology Package and the SE Sport Appearance Package. Bright Silver roof rack side rails are standard on Titanium. Roof rack side rails with available crossbars* let you carry more on any adventure, especially items that don't transport easily inside the cargo area.
60/40 split-fold-flat rear seat backs
A versatile 60/40 split 2nd-row seat is standard in all models. Fold down either of the seat backs for more cargo space and still carry one or two rear passengers. Folding down both seat backs provides maximum cargo space of 68 cu. ft. with a flat load floor.Safety
The Ford Escape is equipped with features to help you maintain control, as well as to help protect you in the event of an accident: (1) Standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™) includes Curve Control,39 designed to slow you down when it senses you're going too fast for a particular curve. (2) The standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts you when your tires are under-inflated (not available on spare tire). (3) Escape features the Personal Safety System,™ next-generation dual-stage driver- and front-passenger airbags, a driver's knee airbag, and front seat-mounted side airbags.
