The Ford Transit Connect is engineered to stringent Ford Light Commercial Vehicle Durability Standards - tested to 150,000 customer-equivalent miles - and Built Ford Tough® to meet your requirements for hard work and reliability, all day, every day. Whether your business is carrying cargo or transporting people, the Transit Connect is a vehicle you can depend on to get the job done.
Commercial vehicles have to withstand the severity of everyday on-the-job duty. That's why the Transit Connect was vigorously tested to 150,000 customer-equivalent miles.
• Through computer-aided engineering, simulated models were put through extensive durability, crash, NVH (noise/vibration/harshness) and vehicle dynamic tests.
• Doors and attached hardware underwent 250,000 opening/slamming cycles.
• Models were torture-tested in the labs under severe temperature and humidity conditions.
• Chassis components and underbody structure were tested at the proving grounds under extreme road conditions to help ensure structural integrity.
Efforts to minimize noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) helped create a comfortable riding environment. Among them:
• The camshaft drive belt system of the 2.5L iVCT engine features a low-noise design. Individual parts were subjected to extensive vibration testing.
• Vehicle parts underwent extensive vibration testing under the worst road conditions.
• Acoustic-laminated design of the windshield reduces wind noise (XLT and Titanium passenger wagon).
• Instead of the hydraulic steering system with its belt-driven pump, Transit Connect features the quieter operation of electric power-assist steering (EPAS).
The value of a great commercial vehicle is its ability to put in a solid day's work, every day. That's why the Ford Transit Connect is designed to spend the most time possible on the job and the least time necessary in the shop - a commitment to reliability backed by years of Built Ford Tough®commercial service.

Maximize your workday in a Ford Transit Connect Cargo Van in one of two wheelbases:
Long wheelbase model has 128.6 cu. ft. of cargo space behind the front seats, or 149 cu. ft. of storage with the passenger seat folded. Easily load cargo up to 4-feet wide, 4-feet tall and 7-feet long. Maximum payload rating is 1,610 lbs.
Short wheelbase model has 103.9 cu. ft. of cargo space behind the front seats, or 124.3 cu. ft. with the passenger seat folded. Maximum payload rating is 1,470 lbs.
When the task at hand calls for towing, the Transit Connect comes through with an unsurpassed* towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs. when equipped with the Trailer Tow Prep Package. Among the included features is Trailer Sway Control (TSC) linked to the technology of the standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™).
*Class is small Vans based on Ford segmentation.
Standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) uses two gyroscopic sensors monitoring yaw and roll rates, helping you maintain control whenever it detects wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion. It also helps maintain control on road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain. AdvanceTrac with RSC also features Curve Control, which slows the vehicle down when it senses that it's going too fast for a particular curve-plus Trailer Sway Control, included in the Trailer Tow Prep Package.
When you're approaching a curve on wet or dry pavement, standard electronic Curve Control can sense if you're going too fast, then slow you down using throttle reduction and anti-lock braking. Once you're into the curve, g-forces tend to transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones. Standard Torque Vectoring Control enhances that by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip, reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve.
The Transit Connect comes with two technologies you'll find reassuring:
When brake pedal pressure applied is insufficient to meet a hard stopping situation, Electronic Emergency Brake Assist* automatically supplies the amount of force needed to reduce the stopping distance.
When you're stopped on an incline, Hill Start Assist* automatically holds the brake to help prevent backward roll while you're going from the brake pedal to the accelerator. This is especially helpful when hauling a heavy load.
*Driver-assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver's attention, judgment and the need to control the vehicle.
Electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) operates more efficiently than conventional steering with an electric motor instead of a power-draining hydraulic pump. Its speed-sensitive technology adapts to changing conditions to improve maneuverability and handling. EPAS provides an easy, fluid feel of the wheel during low-speed maneuvers, which becomes firmer as speed increases. That's not all. EPAS can offset pulling or drifting caused by steady crosswinds or crowned road surfaces and can also damp wheel vibrations.
The 2.5L iVCT engine delivers power ratings of 169 horsepower, 171 lb.-ft. of torque, and features computer-controlled, intake variable cam timing (iVCT). iVCT varies the cam timing across the entire power band to match the driving condition, optimizing power and fuel efficiency* from low-end acceleration to high-end cruising. The 2.5L offers a CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package** that converts use of regular gasoline to either compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane autogas.
*EPA-estimated rating of 20 city/27 hwy/23 combined (van); 19 city/27 hwy/22 combined (passenger wagon). Actual mileage will vary.
**Package includes hardened engine intake valves, hardened engine valve seats and hardened engine exhaust valves.
The 6-speed automatic transmission has wide-ratio gearing for responsive low-end performance and high-end efficiency. Plus convenient SelectShift® and Tow/Haul features:
• SelectShift modes: Progressive Range Select limits the range of gears while in Drive to lock out overdrive for consistent speed over hilly terrain. Full Manual with a toggle switch on the knob lets you shift up and down the gearbox, like operating a manual but without the clutch.
• Tow/Haul mode: On an uphill, it selects the gear that minimizes gear hunting. On a downhill, it keeps the vehicle from upshifting and gaining speed, reducing reliance on brake pressure to slow down.
Choosing the Transit Connect is a smart move from the get-go. Its compact dimensions, best-in-class maneuverability* and big capacities are perfect for the business plan that doesn't require the size and cost of a full-size cargo van or passenger wagon. Now factor in the intelligent options available like the latest SYNC® 3 connectivity system - and your decision to go with the Transit Connect becomes just that much smarter.

The available Quickclear™ Electric Windshield Defroster gets you going on the job fast. With the engine running, the press of a button rapidly removes ice, snow, or mist. Thin heating elements embedded between two layers of glass heat up, providing quick defogging/defrosting. And it isn't just the windshield that is cleared quickly. The washer jets and outside mirrors are also heated.
